Invitation for Proposals

Bio Asia 2010 invites proposals for Dr. YSR Bio Asia Innovation Award – 2010 from young Scientist/Students (below the age of 35 years as on 31 st Jan, 2010) pursing their research/studies in any of the areas of biotechnology/life sciences, including biomathematics and biomechanics etc., and who have created a product of applied value or generated a product of utility for the welfare of human society. It should be able to capture the eyes of entrepreneurs and attract venture capital investment. Ten best of the proposals of the innovators shall be invited to demonstrate their innovations at the conference venue in a cubical space of 2*2mtrs (free of cost) in the exhibition area. The leader of team selected from India for exhibition will be provided local hospitality and travel (Ac – II tier train fare)). Entries short listed from outside India have to make their own travel arrangements, but the local hospitality will be provided. One of the best chosen innovations shall be awarded the “Dr. YSR Bio Asia Innovation Award’, which will be presented at the closing ceremony of Bio Asia 2010. Cash Prize: Rs. 1, 00, 000/- (USD 2,500)

Guidelines: Students/Scientists working in the institutions/industries of any of the FABA member countries should send their proposals (not exceeding 2000 words) as an abstract/summary (hard & soft copies). The proposals should contain the name of the contestant, proof of age, affiliation, the theme and the summary of the project along with a certificate from the head of the Institution/Department that the work being presented is the original work carried by the contestant (s).

The proposal should be sent to Prof. P.Reddanna, Convener, Technical Committee, Bio Asia – 2010, School of Life sciences, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad – 500046, on or before 15th  December,2009. A team of scientists shall screen the proposals and those selected for exhibition shall be communicated to the contestants through the email/letters (A list of selected proposals shall be displayed on the website by 21st December, 2009.

Instructions
   
1. Contestants, whose propsals are short listed, shall have to establish the claim of originality of the proposal.
2. They should come out with the details of their products as pilot projects including the processing methods.
3. There will be a space of 2x2 Mtrs cubicles in the stalls erected at the venue of the confernece.  This is to enable the contestants to effectively present the theme and exhibit the process/product in a pilot scale.
4. The space provided is free of cost.
5. The teams selected for exhibition of their products will be provided accommodation.
6. The participants from India (Only one of the participants in a team) shall be paid AC-II tier train fare to and from the place of work to Hyderabad.
7. They are requested to intimate their travel schedule to Prof. P. Reddanna,

8. The awardee shall be declared and presented with the award at the closing session of the conference.
   
The decision of the selection committee is final and binding on all concerned.
