Invitation for Proposals
In order to promote investigative spirit in young school children, we have introduced “The Bio Asia Young Minds Award” during BioAsia 2009. The same is being continued for BioAsia 2010.
The contest is open to the students of all the member countries of Federation of Asian Biotech Association (FABA).
Young students (school children at 10th, 11th and 12th standard), interested in submitting project works in any of the areas of Biotechnology / Life sciences including medical/Pharmaceutical technology, Bioinformatics, biomechanics and biomathematics, etc. are welcome to submit their proposals on or before 15th December,2009. The Projects should have novel scientific applications / entrepreneurial potential. A sound scientific proposal based on intense literature survey, translated into a novel hypothesis and experimental design shall also be accepted. Five among the best proposals received shall be invited to demonstrate their exhibits at the conference venue. One of the best projects shall be awarded ‘Bio Asia Young Minds Award – 2010’ with Prize money of
Rs. 50, 000/-(US$ 1000.00). Projects selected for exhibition shall be communicated to the contestants through the e-mail/letters (A list of selected proposals shall be displayed on the Web site by 21st December, 2009). The leader of the team selected from India for exhibition of their innovations will be provided local hospitality and travel (AC-II tier train fare). Entries shortlisted from outside India have to make their own travel arrangements, but local hospitality will be provided.
Guidelines: The young students should send their proposals (not exceeding 1000 words) as an abstract/summary (hard and soft copies). The proposals should contain the name of the contestant, affiliation, the theme and summary of the project along with a certificate from the head of the school/college that the work being presented is the original work carried by the contestant (s).
The Proposal should be sent to Prof. P. Reddanna, Convener, Technical committee, Bio Asia – 2010, School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, Hyderabad – 500046, India, on or before 15th December, 2009. A team of scientists shall screen the proposals and those selected for exhibition shall be communicated through email/letter.

Contestants, whose propsals are short listed, shall have to establish the claim of originality of the proposal. |

They should come out with the details of their products as pilot projects including the processing methods. |

There will be a space of 2x2 Mtrs cubicles in the stalls erected at the venue of the confernece. This is to enable the contestants to effectively present the theme and exhibit the process/product in a pilot scale. |

The space provided is free of cost. |
| 5. |
The teams selected for exhibition of their products will be provided accommodation. |

The participants from India (Only one of the participants in a team) shall be paid AC-II tier train fare to and from the place of work to Hyderabad. |
